FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q1: What does a regular soccer session look like?

A1: For the U6, U8 and U11 age groups, each Wednesday night is a combination of practice and a game. Teams will begin by practicing/learning and finish the session with a game against another team.

For the U4 age group, there are no planned games, only grassroots learning activities. This doesn’t mean that inter-squad games can’t take place later in the season, only that they are uncommon for that age.

Q2: Is HCSC insured?

A2: Yes. As an organized sporting club, we carry insurance that is renewed annually to insure protection and safety.

Q3: What equipment does HCSC provide?

A3: For participants, we provide soccer balls, cones and nets for every session that are stored in our club shed adjacent to the field.

Each child will receive a team jersey for the season with the club logo. Players will be permitted to keep their jersey at season’s end. Players will also receive black shorts and socks that they will be able to keep.

Q4: What equipment is needed to play?

A4: We ask that all participants arrive in athletic wear that will help them move safely on the field and bring a water bottle.

It is encouraged (but not a mandatory requirement) for participants to have cleats, shin guards and soccer socks.

Q5: How will we know about cancellations?

A5: A cancellation will only take place in the event of heavy rain or extreme heat. In the event that a cancellation could take place on a day of play, HCSC will consult 311 with the City of Halifax. If the City decides to close the fields, we will post an information blurb on our Facebook group page.
